Gareth Edwards, Gary Verity, Patrick Head are awarded knighthoods, Frank Lampard, Jimmy Anderson are given OBEs in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

The Queen has released her Birthday Honours list, with Gareth Edwards and Gary Verity two names in sport that are set to be knighted.

Ex-Williams director Patrick Head also receives a knighthood, while England cricketer Jimmy Anderson and footballer Frank Lampard become OBEs.

Edwards, a former British and Irish Lions and Wales scrum-half, is considered a legend within rugby union and scored what is regarded as the greatest try of all time for the Barbarians against the All Blacks in 1973.

Verity is honoured after his work bringing the Tour de France to Yorkshire in 2014, while Head co-founded Williams and helped oversee nine constructor championships.

Boxer Carl Froch, long-distance runner Jo Pavey, and England defender Casey Stoney are honoured with MBEs. England squash world champion Nick Matthew is also awarded an OBE.
