Former middleweight champion Jermain Taylor has been arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and assault after his cousin was shot at the boxer's home in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The American sportsman was held at Pulaski County jail after his cousin was taken to hospital in serious condition with a suspected gunshot wound.
"Mr Taylor was arrested for domestic battery, first-degree, and aggravated assault," The AP quotes Pulaski County Sheriff's Office Lt. Carl Minden as saying. "It was his cousin and another individual that came over to his house, an altercation ensued, [Taylor] grabbed a weapon and opened fire."
Reports have claimed that Taylor, who won a boxing Olympic bronze medal at the 2000 Games, will appear in Pulaski County District Court via jail this week as he has not been granted bail.
