Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted that his five-year-old son is not missing out by not having a mother in his life.
The three-time Ballon d'Or winner announced in 2010 that he had become a father to Cristiano Jr and would have sole custody over the youngster.
In a Facebook post, Ronaldo confirmed that his son's mother wanted to keep her identity "confidential".
The Portugal captain has opened up in his new tell-all documentary, claiming that his child "doesn't need a mother, just me - having a father is enough".
In the feature-length piece titled Ronaldo, the former Manchester United star said: "People speculate I was with this girl or another, or there was a surrogate mother. I have never told anyone and never will.
"When Cristiano is grown up I will tell him what I did, what I felt, everything that went through my mind. Some children never get to know their parents, neither mother nor father. Having a father is enough."
The documentary will be released in cinemas and DVD on Monday.
