Former South Africa captain Graeme Smith has rubbished speculation surrounding the manner of his divorce.
A report in South Africa's Sunday Times alleged that Smith's wife Morgan Deane accidentally found out that he wanted a divorce via a text message which was originally meant for his lawyers.
It is believed that Deane, who is an Irish singer, was hopeful that the pair were working on their marriage and her friends reportedly later accused the cricketer of leaving his family behind to support South Africa at the Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Smith has addressed the rumours by tweeting: "It is disappointing that certain segments of the media have chosen to publish speculation and accusations as regards the means and manner of our marriage breakdown.
"Naturally it is tempting to respond, however other than to deny the accusations that have been published, I have chosen not to comment. Hopefully people will respect that.
"My intention remains to act with dignity and respect throughout the process for the wellbeing of my children and my family."
Smith and his other half married in 2011 and are parents to a two-year-old daughter and son aged one.
