Child tickets for next summer's World Athletics Championships are priced at £9.58 to reflect Usain Bolt's world-record time in the 100m sprint.

It will cost less than £10 a ticket for a child to attend the 2017 World Athletics Championships in the Olympic Stadium in London, it has been announced.

The organisers have confirmed that tickets for children will be priced at £9.58 to reflect Usain Bolt's world record time in the 100m event, while over one third of the 1.5 million tickets available will cost spectators £35 or less.

Two thousand athletes from more than 200 countries will touch down in London next year for the IAAF World Championships and the World ParaAthletics Championships, both of which will be held in the same city in the same year for the first time.

Managing director at London 2017 Cherry Alexander said: "Our overall approach to ticketing across both Championships had three priorities: we want to fill the venue with passionate crowds, we want prices to be accessible to the athletics family, all sports fans and new spectators; and we wanted the timetable to allow as many people as possible to attend the biggest sporting event since London 2012. I really believe we have achieved this and it is going to be an incredible summer of world athletics."

Bolt added: "I always say that the children are the future and I commend the organisers of London 2017 on this initiative to give young people the chance to buy affordable tickets. I hope it will inspire many of them to get into athletics and look forward to seeing many young people filling seats next summer."

Adult tickets for the ParaAthletics will start at a cost of £10, and children can enter the venue at £5 for every session, but there is also a price of £30 for a family of four choosing to watch a gold-medal session.

Tickets will go on sale on August 1 via public ballot, with applications opening at 10am and closing at 8.17pm on August 22.

The IAAF World Championships run from August 4 to 13 next year, while the World ParaAthletics Championships will get underway a month earlier on July 14 and end nine days later.
