Basingstoke Town marketing director Simon Hood has claimed that Brazil international Ronaldinho has held talks with the club over a potential move.
The 33-year-old is currently without a club after leaving Atletico Mineiro earlier this summer, and Conference South outfit Basingstoke could now be in for the forward.
"Discussions have been had, and there is an offer on the table," Hood is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "Now it is up to Ronaldinho to decide whether he wants to take us up on it.
"He is on a free transfer and if he wants to get into English football, I cannot think of a better way to do that than by signing for Basingstoke Town."
Ronaldinho was named as the best player in the world by FIFA in 2004 and 2005.
