Sam Vokes: 'Players concerned about Euro 2016 safety'

Wales striker Sam Vokes admits that players will think about security concerns surrounding Euro 2016 following the terrorist attacks in Brussels.

Wales striker Sam Vokes has conceded that some players will consider safety concerns surrounding this summer's Euro 2016 tournament in France.

At least 36 people are thought to have been killed by co-ordinated terrorist attacks in Brussels this morning, just four months after Paris was targeted in another spate of bombings.

The Stade de France, which will play host to seven matches in Euro 2016, including the final, was one of the locations targeted in the November attacks, but Vokes is confident that the authorities are doing all they can to ensure the safety of those at the games.

Asked whether security was something the players considered, Vokes told reporters: "I think so. As players it gets taken of your hands and the FAW will take all the precautions.

"It's something that will obviously be looked at before we go over there and you have trust in your Association that the security will be heightened.

"We can concentrate on what happens on the pitch but I'm sure behind the scenes the FAW are doing all they can over security issues. I think it's been like that since November but, of course, we're happy to go."

Wales have been drawn in Group B of Euro 2016, alongside England, Russia and Slovakia.
