West Ham United have called on their supporters to help choose the design of a new club crest for when they move into the Olympic Stadium in 2016.

The Hammers have announced on their official website that fans will get a say in the design as the success of the stadium move depends on the club's "acceptance among supporters as the home of West Ham United".

A statement added: "The crest's evolution is the handiwork of world-class designers, who, crucially, are lifelong supporters of the club too. Its final design is the product of careful deliberation following supporter consultation and the comprehensive feedback received, as well as a reflection of feeling among the club's stakeholders. The end result is a bolder, cleaner and more vibrant club crest."

Following a consultation with a group of supporters, a number of them were in favour of adding 'London' to the new club crest.
