Wolverhampton Wanderers confirm that Martyn Matthews, one of three Britons killed in the German Wings plane crash, was a season-ticket holder at Molineux.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that one of the three Britons who were killed in the German Wings French Alps plane crash was season-ticket holder Martyn Matthews.

A total of 150 people lost their lives when an Airbus A320 travelling from Barcelona to Dusseldorf plummeted from the sky in eight minutes on Tuesday and one of those on board was 50-year-old Matthews.

"Our hearts go out to everyone involved in this terrible accident and all of the families and friends of the passengers on board," Wolves chief executive officer Jez Moxey told the club website.

"We were extremely saddened to learn that among those passengers was Martyn, one of our long-standing season-ticket holders in the Steve Bull Stand.

"The sincere condolences of everyone at the club go to Martyn's wife Sharon, and their grown-up children Nathan and Jade, and I am sure the thoughts of all Wolves supporters are with them at this desperately difficult time."

The Championship club added that the flags at the front of Molineux have been lowered to half-mast in memory of Matthews and the other passengers who lost their lives.
