Sports Mole

Brommapojkarna will be bidding to stretch their unbeaten run of form in Sweden's top flight to four matches when they head to Boras Arena on Saturday afternoon to tackle Elfsborg.

The visitors are currently 11th in the Allsvenskan table, boasting 15 points from their opening 12 matches of the campaign, while Elfsborg occupy ninth, one point ahead of their opponents in this contest.

Match preview

Five wins, one draw and seven defeats - that is how Elfsborg have performed so far in the Allsvenskan this season, with a total of 16 points from 13 matches leaving them in ninth position in the table.

The Yellow Ones are six-time Swedish champions, with their last success coming in 2012, while they were runners-up last season, picking up 64 points from their 30 matches, only losing out on the title to Malmo on goal difference.

Elfsborg have found it difficult in the early exchanges of this season, though, and they are some 16 points off the champions Malmo at this stage of proceedings.

Jimmy Thelin left his role as head coach to take charge of Aberdeen last month, with Oscar Hiljemark, who is only 32, now manager of the Swedish outfit.

Elfsborg have actually been beaten in three of their last four matches, including their last two against Malmo and IFK Goteborg, with their last success proving to be a 2-0 success over Halmstad on May 24.

Brommapojkarna will enter this match in the better form, having won two and drawn one of their three league matches before the recent break.

Olof Mellberg's side finished down in 14th position in Sweden's top flight last season, picking up just 33 points from their 30 games, but they thumped Utsiktens BK 7-0 in the two-legged playoff affair to retain their status at this level.

BP have won three, drawn six and lost three of their 12 league matches this season to pick up 15 points, which has left them in 11th spot in the table, only one point behind ninth-placed Elfsborg with a game in hand.

Mellberg's team are just six points off fourth spot, meanwhile, so a positive run of results certainly has the potential to move them up the division.

Brommapojkarna actually have the fourth-best away record in the Allsvenskan this season, claiming nine points from six matches, but Elfsborg have won four, drawn one and lost one of their six matches at home.

Team News

Elfsborg have not reported any injury problems ahead of this match, and there is not expected to be any major surprises when it comes to their team selection on Saturday.

Simon Hedlund is the team's leading goalscorer this season, finding the back of the net on six occasions in 15 appearances, but Michael Baidoo, Jalal Abdulai and Ahmed Qasem have also managed four each.

All four are expected to start for the home side this weekend, while there should also be a spot in central midfield for Andri Fannar Baldursson.

As for Brommapojkarna, Gustav Sandberg Magnusson is unavailable for selection through injury, but the visitors are otherwise in strong shape for the contest.

Head coach Mellberg could name the same side that held the champions Malmo to a 2-2 draw last time out, with Nikola Vasic, who has scored eight times this season, operating through the middle.

Ludvig Fritzson and Wilmer Odefalk have managed three goals each this term, meanwhile, and the pair are also set to be in the starting XI this weekend.

Elfsborg possible starting lineup:
Bundgaard; Boman, Holmen, Henriksson, Hult; Qasem, Baidoo, Baldursson; Hedlund, Abdullai, Zeneli

Brommapojkarna possible starting lineup:
Sidklev; Jensen, Abrahamsson, Heggem, Waker; Fritzson, Odefalk, Jakobsen; Andersson, Vasic, Christensen

We say: Elfsborg 1-1 Brommapojkarna

Elfsborg have won four of the last five league meetings between the two sides, and they will be the favourites on home soil this weekend. Brommapojkarna have proven to be a difficult team to beat this season, though, and we are backing the visitors to be good enough for a point here.
