Sports Mole previews Sunday's Swedish Allsvenskan clash between Kalmar and Brommapojkarna, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Kalmar will be bidding to make it successive victories in the Swedish Allsvenskan when they continue their campaign at home to Brommapojkarna on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts will enter the contest off the back of a 2-1 win over AIK Fotboll, while Brommapojkarna suffered a 3-0 defeat to Elfsborg on their return to action last weekend.

Match preview

Kalmar secured their fourth victory of the campaign last time out, beating AIK Fotboll 2-1 on home soil, with the result moving them out of the relegation zone and into 14th spot in the table.

Henrik Jensen's side boast a record of four wins, one draw and eight defeats from their 13 league matches this season, which has left them on 13 points, now two points ahead of the bottom two.

Kalmar have won Sweden's top flight on one previous occasion, lifting the trophy in 2008, while they were sixth last term, but there has been a drop-off in their performance level this season.

Jensen's team have struggled in front of their own fans this term, only picking up four points from six matches, and they will be welcoming a Brommapojkarna outfit that have been solid on their travels during the current season, securing nine points from seven matches.

Brommapojkarna will enter this match off the back of a disappointing result, though, having lost 3-0 to Elfsborg last time out, with the result ending a three-game unbeaten run in Sweden's top flight.

Olof Mellberg's side boast a record of three wins, six draws and four defeats from their 13 league matches this season, which has left them in 12th spot in the table on 15 points.

BP secured promotion back to the top flight in 2022, and they finished last season in 14th position, surviving in the Allsvenskan courtesy of their 7-0 aggregate success over Utsiktens BK in the relegation playoffs.

Brommapojkarna will be bidding to stay clear of the bottom three this season, but they are only two points ahead of 13th-placed Kalmar ahead of this weekend's contest.

Mellberg's team actually thumped Kalmar 7-0 when the two teams last locked horns in October 2023, but two of their last four meetings in the top flight have been won by Kalmar.

Team News

Kalmar have not reported any fresh injury concerns from their narrow success over AIK last time out, so it is likely that head coach Larsson will name an unchanged side.

Forwards Dino Islamovic and Simon Skrabb have scored seven goals between them in the league this season, while Jacob Trenskow has five strikes to his name, and all three are set to start here.

The hosts will be without the services of three first-team players on Sunday, though, with Rony Jansson, Johan Karlsson and Carl Gustafsson on the treatment table.

As for Brommapojkarna, Kaare Barslund and Gustav Sandberg Magnusson remain unavailable for selection.

Head coach Mellberg is expected to resist the temptation to shuffle his pack despite the disappointment of the result and indeed performance against Elfsborg last time out.

Nikola Vasic is having an impressive season from a personal point of view, scoring seven times in the league, and the 32-year-old will once again operate in the final third of the field.

Kalmar possible starting lineup:
Brolin; Hallberg, Saetra, Osuji, Gersbach; Ring, Magashy, Gojani, Trenskow; Islamovic, Skrabb

Brommapojkarna possible starting lineup:
Sidklev; Jensen, Bjorkander, Abrahamsson, Christensen; Andersson, Fritzson, Odefalk, Jakobsen; Irandust, Vasic

We say: Kalmar 1-1 Brommapojkarna

This is a difficult match to call, as there is not a lot between the two sides. Brommapojkarna have drawn three of their seven away league games this term, suffering just two defeats in the process, and we are expecting the visitors to be good enough for a share of the spoils on Sunday.
