It has been confirmed that Daryl Jacob will saddle defending champion Pineau De Re at next month's Grand National.
The 31-year-old Irish jockey will replace Leighton Aspell, who is expected to ride Hennessy Gold Cup winner Many Clouds.
"Daryl Jacob will ride Pineau De Re. He rode him at Cheltenham first time out. We know him well and he has always done a great job for us," the Racing Post quotes training Richard Newland as saying.
"It is quite ironic because it was about this time last year we didn't have a jockey for Pineau and then we secured Leighton. Leighton has to ride Many Clouds and I understand that."
Most bookmakers regard Pineau De Re to be a 20-1 shot to retain the title at Aintree.
