Great Britain's women's quadruple sculls team failed to claim a medal from this afternoon's final at Eton Dorney.
It was widely accepted that to have any chance of winning a medal, the Team GB squad would have to get off to a good start.
However, the four-woman unit of Melanie Wilson, Debbie Flood, Frances Houghton and Beth Rodford struggled to find any momentum and they found themselves in last position from an early stage.
Pre-race favourites Ukraine lived up to that tag by claiming the gold medal with a time of six minutes and 35 seconds, which was three seconds quicker than Germany in the second spot.
The USA, who were two seconds further back, took bronze.
Team GB were the final team to cross the line, recording a time of six minutes and 51 seconds in the process.
