Great Britain's Heather Stanning and Helen Glover have clinched the first gold medal for their country following their success at the women's pair final.
The duo, who went into the race on the back of an undefeated record, rode to the finish line with ease after climbing a length ahead of their opponents after just 500m.
Germany took the early lead in lane six after jumping out of the starting gate but it didn't take long for the British pair to push ahead, leaving just clear water between them and their opponents.
The gold was all but wrapped up with 1200m left to go, leaving Australia and New Zealand to battle it out for silver and bronze, which the Aussies just pipped at the finish line.
Stanning and Glover's victory makes them the first British women to ever win a gold medal at the Olympics.
