Catalans Dragons' Scott Dureau is back in light training after recovering from a brain tumour operation.
The 26-year-old playmaker underwent a 10-hour procedure in January to remove an avocado-sized growth that put him at risk of losing his eyesight.
Dureau has now been given a clean bill of health and is targeting a return to action by the end of the season.
"I've still got a long way to go," The Mirror quotes him as saying. "So, I am not going to rush back until I am 100% fit and healthy. But maybe by the back end of the season I might have a chance.
"It was terrifying when I found out. I had a problem with my left eye and thought I might need glasses. It turned out to be the tumour pressing on the back of my eye."
Dureau had three metal plates inserted in his head during the procedure, which was completed four days after the initial diagnosis.
He added: "Initially, I was told I might go blind but the tumour has been completely removed.
"I have more tests in the next few months and it will be a long process. But it could have been a whole lot worse."
The Catalans Dragons star was voted into last season's Super League Dream Team.
