Hull Kingston Rovers have missed the chance to go above Catalan Dragons in the Super League table after a narrow 10-13 defeat at New Craven Park.
Setaimata Sa's unconverted try had given the hosts the lead after 14 minutes, but Jake Webster's score soon after drew the visitors level. Michael Dobson then kicked over the extras to put Hull 6-4 in front at the break.
Scott Dureau got Salford on equal terms on 55 minutes when he kicked over a penalty, but Scott Murrell's try five minutes later looked to have been enough to give Craig Sandercock's men the victory.
However, a late Clint Greenshields try combined with a drop goal and penalty from a cool Dureau gave the Dragons the close victory.
