Hull FC head coach Lee Radford has confirmed that captain Gareth Ellis will be out for six months after snapping his Achilles in the derby victory over Hull KR last Friday.
Former Great Britain international Ellis went down with nobody around him in the first half of his side's 22-12 win, and had to be helped from the field.
The 34-year-old has since undergone surgery, and Radford today said that he will play no further part this season, and could even miss the start of pre-season training for 2016.
Meanwhile, Radford hopes that veteran stand-off Leon Pryce will not require surgery on his injured shoulder.
The former Bradford, Saints and Catalans half-back is expected to miss at least a month, but could return during the Super 8s.
