St Helens coach Nathan Brown has said that he is pleased with his side's "efforts and commitment" against the Catalans Dragons on Friday.
The Saints went down 22-12 to the French side at Langtree Park in the Super League despite a late challenge.
"I can't fault the guys' efforts and commitment," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying. "Alex Walmsley was great and is getting better, Mark Percival and Adam Swift are getting better.
"The game time the youngsters are getting is invaluable for them and their rewards will come. Obviously we'd like them to come this year but sometimes it takes a bit of time. We should get a lot of confidence out of tonight. We withstood a lot of pressure.
"If we can tidy up a couple of areas and try to gain a little momentum in attack, we will be quite confident we should do okay. We're trying hard, we just need to get a bit smarter."
St Helens are currently seventh in the Super League table.
