Richard Agar leaves his position as head coach of Super League side Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

Richard Agar has stepped down from his position as the head coach of the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats with immediate effect.

Having taken up the post in 2012, Agar led the Wildcats in 75 outings, which included a run to the Super League playoffs.

"I'd like to thank Richard for all he has done for this club. Reaching the playoffs in 2012 given where the club was when he arrived was a remarkable achievement and gave the fans some terrific memories," chairman Michael Carter told the club's official website.

"He faced a similar situation ahead of the coming campaign and put his hand up to once more assemble a squad on a very limited budget. He has put together a group of players which we are fully confident has the quality to achieve our main objective of survival in the First Utility Super League."

The club have also confirmed that James Webster, who was the assistant to Agar, will fill the vacancy.
