Wakefield Trinity Wildcats forward Andy Raleigh announces that he will retire at the end of the season following a 12-year career in rugby league.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats forward Andy Raleigh has confirmed that he will retire at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old began his career with Sheffield Eagles in 2004 before spells with Hull Kingston Rovers and Huddersfield Giants.

Having joined Wakefield in 2012, Raleigh was voted Players' Player of the Year and Coach's Player of the Year during his first season with the club.

"It has been a dream come true to be able to play the sport that I love for a living," he told Wakefield's official website.

"I've had some fantastic experiences from playing in Challenge Cup finals to making the playoffs, and met some great people along the way.

"I've been extremely lucky, and very grateful, to have a very supportive family, without which I probably wouldn't have pursued a career in professional rugby."

Wakefield continue their Super League campaign on Sunday when they host Raleigh's former club Huddersfield Giants.
