Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has admitted that his side were second best in their Super League Grand Final defeat by Leeds Rhinos this evening.
Wane's side were defeated 22-20 at Old Trafford, as the Rhinos twice came from behind to seal the treble, but the Wigan-born coach insists that he was confident his side could find a winner in the second half.
"The best team won on the night," Wane told Sky Sports News. "They played well for 80 minutes, and we played well for the second 40 minutes, so congratulations to Leeds on winning the treble.
"I was always confident. I knew at half time they hadn't seen the best of us, but I think we responded well in the second half - I thought we were pretty good in the second half, and unfortunately we couldn't get enough points on the board.
"We're just starting. We've got a good group of players and a real good culture, and we'll be strong for years to come."
Wigan will take on NRL side Brisbane Broncos in the 2016 World Club Series on Saturday, February 21.
