Argentina lock Mariano Galarza will miss the rest of the World Cup after being handed a nine-week ban for making contact with Brodie Retallick's eye in Sunday's loss to New Zealand.
A 13-week suspension had been the initial ruling from the disciplinary panel, but the length of the ban was reduced due to Galarza's record of avoiding trouble.
The 28-year-old was found guilty of making contact "with the eye or eye area" of Retallick at Wembley and he now has until Friday to decide whether to appeal the decision.
If his appeal is rejected, Galarza will not be available again until November 26, which means that he will also miss the start of Gloucester's Premiership campaign.
