Australia head coach Robbie Deans has no doubts that fly-half James O'Connor can bounce back against the British and Irish Lions at the weekend after a poor display in the opening Test.

The 22-year-old missed a number of early kicks, which proved to be crucial as the tourists held on to win 23-21 in Brisbane on Saturday.

However, Deans has stuck with O'Connor for the second Test and believes that the player will show his quality in the remainder of the series.

"He is going to be a lot better for that outing," said Deans. "It was a very tough circumstance for him with the disruption and while the performance wasn't perfect it is a team game.

"He is part of that but so our others and it was difficult with having Hoops at 12. We will be much better with an extra week's work and having a specialist alongside him."

The second Test takes place on Saturday.
