Australia captain Stephen Moore has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.
The 31-year-old hooker ruptured his anterior cruciate and medial ligaments on Saturday during his side's 50-23 victory over France in Brisbane.
Moore is due to undergo reconstructive surgery before spending a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
"The whole year is gone. He's obviously shattered," Australia coach Ewen McKenzie is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "It leaves a bit of a void because we had put a lot of things in the pipeline."
Australia play the second of three Tests against France in Melbourne next weekend.
