Australia forward Wycliff Palu has admitted that he knew his hamstring injury sustained against Uruguay would spell the end of his international career.
The 33-year-old pulled up during the Wallabies' 65-3 victory at Villa Park at the weekend and was ruled out of the remainder of the Rugby World Cup as a result.
However, despite trying to carry on, Palu revealed that he felt "numb" after sustaining the injury.
"I had a moment there where it was pretty emotional for me," Palu is quoted by The West Australian as saying.
"I kind of knew it was my last chance wearing the green and gold jersey.
"I felt a bit numb and probably going into the sheds afterwards, half time and obviously not coming back out I was pretty gutted, but that's just rugby."
The Wallabies will also be without forward Will Skelton for the rest of the tournament.
