Ireland battle past Australia in Auckland, securing a surprise 15-6 victory over the Wallabies.

Ireland have produced a rousing display to defeat Australia in Auckland.

Throughout the game the Irish pack were relentless, causing the Australians to make needless errors.

Both Australia's James O'Connor and Ireland's Jamie Sexton were guilty of missing penalties in the first half as the sides went in level at the break with six points apiece.

The Irish forwards dominated in the second half, continuing to win penalties which Sexton and substitute Ronan O'Gara sent over.

The Wallabies next face the United States on Friday while Ireland take on Russia on Sunday, September 25.
