British and Irish Lions boss Warren Gatland believes that his side deserved to suffer defeat against the Brumbies on Tuesday.
The Lions, who were forced into a number of changes, were defeated 14-12 in their final warm-up match ahead of the first Test with Australia this weekend.
"It's just disappointing. In fairness to the Brumbies, they played well and put us under pressure at the breakdown. We have no excuses. Our performance wasn't good enough so we got what we deserved," Gatland told Sky Sports News.
"The breakdown was disappointing. There was inaccuracy in terms of securing the ball and the lineout in the first half. I was disappointed with the intensity in the first half. It improved in the second half but it wasn't quite good enough."
The Lions had previously won each of their warm-up fixtures this summer.
