The British and Irish Lions have secured a 35-0 victory over the Melbourne Rebels ahead of their second Test against Australia.

After a tentative start, the Lions found the breakthrough from a five metre scrum, where Conor Murray turned over the line to get the first try of the match, while Owen Farrell gave the Lions a 7-0 lead after 15 minutes by converting the kick.

The Rebels had the chance to respond through a penalty, which was awarded after Sean O'Brien was penalised for being offside at a ruck, but Jason Woodward kicked wide to leave them scoreless.

Minutes later, Manu Tuilagi made a surging run through Gareth Delve and three others to find Sean Maitland on the inside. The Scotsman managed to find Toby Faletau, who slipped, but his throw reached the hands of Simon Zebo, who found Maitland over the corner to extend the Lions lead.

At the start of the second half, O'Brien suffered a brief injury scare, but he bounced back instantly by stepping inside one man to take another Rebel over the line with him as he touched down.

Farrell easily converted the kick to keep the Lions on top and they extended their lead further when the referee awarded a penalty try following Jordy Reid's offside offence that sent him to the sin-bin. Stuart Hogg took the kick to give the Lions a 28-0 lead with just under 20 minutes left to play.

The Lions continued to dominate the encounter and managed to round off the match with a try from Ben Youngs, who was fed the ball from Tom Croft and charged through the gap.
