Danny Cipriani targets England return ahead of World Cup

Danny Cipriani insists that he remains optimistic about forcing his way back into the England squad.

Danny Cipriani has insisted that he is refusing to give up on his dream of playing for England at next year's World Cup.

The Sale Sharks fly-half travelled to New Zealand with the squad in the summer, but he fell down the pecking order before the Autumn Internationals.

However, the 27-year-old is determined to prove his worth to Stuart Lancaster and the rest of the coaching staff as he looks to challenge the likes of Owen Farrell and George Ford for a place in the side.

"Any English player who is not in the squad is going to say they can offer something for England," Cipriani told reporters. "There are areas of my game that I want to keep improving so I can be that complete player for them.

"I am always going to keep working on my strengths and keep trying to highlight those because they will be my point of difference.

"To hear the pointers they want me to work on, over the last four weeks I have been trying to do that. I will continue to do so moving into the rest of the season to make sure I can keep ticking the right boxes to put my hand up to represent England."

England's next challenge will arrive when the Six Nations begins on the first weekend of February.
