England head coach Stuart Lancaster has revealed that he is close to adding Mike Catt to his coaching set-up.
Catt worked with Lancaster and the rest of the management team during England's summer tour of South Africa, but was replaced by Andy Farrell after the former Saracens head coach became available.
Lancaster is hopeful that he can coax the 40-year-old back into his team to work alongside Farrell in order to give the squad the best possible support.
"I'm seeing him next week and am hopeful that that will progress soon," said Lancaster.
"The players enjoyed working with him and he helped them in lots of little ways."
Catt won 75 caps for England between 1994 and 2007, playing in two World Cup finals, including the victorious 2003 one.
