Tom Wood has been tipped by Northampton teammate Phil Dowson to captain England during the Six Nations.
Recently-appointed England manager Stuart Lancaster will name a new captain along with a 32-man squad for the Six Nations next week.
The squad is expected to be very different to the one that failed at last year's World Cup and Dowson believes that Wood can be the perfect leader for the squad.
Dowson said: "I can see Tom captaining England.
"He speaks very well to the players and is always full-on and first to get involved. He'd be a tremendous leader."
Wood has nine caps for England and would succeed Lewis Moody as captain if he is selected by Lancaster.
