Mike Brown feeling confident after concussion problems

England full-back Mike Brown insists that his concussion problems are behind him as he bids to secure a spot in the World Cup squad.

Mike Brown has insisted that he is ready to play a major role at the World Cup after recovering from concussion problems.

After being knocked unconscious in February's clash with Italy, Brown returned for the final two games of the Six Nations before missing the rest of the season when Harlequins were left concerned by the regular headaches which had affected him.

However, the 29-year-old has made it through the opening two weeks of England's training camp without further problems and he is hopeful of making an impact at the tournament.

"The headaches seem to have gone now. If it was ever going to make a comeback it'd be in the training we're doing. Like 'Wig' (England forwards coach Graham Rowntree) said it's been brutal, it's been tough," Brown told Sky Sports News.

"I've been all-clear through that so hopefully the next stage will be to take a bit of contact, which I've got no doubts in my mind I'll be able to do.

"I can only speak for myself but if you believe you can put the effort in, get to the level then you'll get picked so that's what I'll concentrate on doing."

The training squad will be cut from 50 to 45 before Stuart Lancaster's side travel to Denver for a two-week camp on Saturday.
