Chris Ashton has confirmed that he will appeal the 10-week suspension that has ruled him out of the Six Nations.
The Saracens winger was cited last week for allegedly eye-gouging Ulster's Luke Marshall during their European Champions Cup clash at Allianz Park.
In a statement, Sarries said: "Saracens can confirm that wing Chris Ashton will be appealing his 10-week suspension after receiving the full written decision of the independent Disciplinary Hearing Judicial Officer on Friday, January 22.
"Ashton, who pleaded not guilty in the independent Disciplinary Hearing in London last Wednesday (January 20, 2016), will be appealing against the level of the sanction imposed."
The date of the appeal hearing will be announced shortly.
