England coach Stuart Lancaster praises Jack Nowell for his debut performance during Saturday's defeat to France in the Six Nations.

England coach Stuart Lancaster has praised Jack Nowell for his debut performance during Saturday's loss to France in the Six Nations.

The winger, 20, was at fault for France's opening try in Paris as his knock-on led to Yoann Huget touching down with just 30 seconds on the clock.

However, Lancaster believes that the youngster recovered well amid an intense atmosphere inside the Stade de France.

"I think Jack Nowell grew into the game," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"Some players make a mistake early on and hide, but he didn't. He was our second top tackler behind Chris Robshaw with 14 tackles and missed none."

England continue their campaign this Saturday when they face Scotland at Murrayfield.
