Ben Youngs: 'Dublin heartache will inspire us'

Ben Youngs says that England's failure to secure a Grand Slam Six Nations title in 2011 will inspire them to success against Wales.

England scrum-half Ben Youngs believes that his side's Six Nations heartache against Ireland in 2011 will inspire them to victory this time around against Wales on Saturday.

The Red Rose carried an unbeaten record into their final match in Dublin two years ago, but were defeated by the Irish to miss out on the Grand Slam, despite claiming the title.

The Leicester Tigers man was part of the side on that day, and is keen to avoid a repeat of the situation.

"You learn from experiences like that, certainly there are a few guys from that day who are now involved with the squad again," Youngs told Sky Sports News. "I'm sure we don't want to feel like that again. Sometimes you have to lose one to win one, hopefully that will be the case this weekend.

"There are a huge amount of level-headed guys and the coaching staff will make sure we're prepared for any game and we don't get ahead of ourselves.

"We know we've just got to win the game at the weekend. If we train well and train hard then hopefully the performance will take care of itself."

England travel to Cardiff to face Wales in the title showdown on Saturday.
