Philippe Saint-Andre says that he was "satisfied" to see France secure a bonus-point victory over Canada at the Rugby World Cup.

France coach Philippe Saint-Andre has said that he was "satisfied" with Les Bleus' performance against Canada in the Rugby World Cup last night.

France moved top of Pool D with a 41-18 victory in Milton Keynes and although Saint-Andre was pleased to see his side secure a bonus point, he felt that they lost their intensity midway through.

"The first half was great, we kept the ball and was clever in our game plan," Saint-Andre told reporters. "Then, after 30 minutes, we lost our intensity and lost two contests in the air allowing the Canadians to take advantage.

"We got the bonus point so we can be satisfied."

France face Ireland in their final group game and it is likely to decide who goes through to the quarter-finals in first place, with the loser set to face tournament favourites New Zealand in the last eight.

Saint-Andre added: "We reached our first objective, three wins and 14 points and qualified for the quarter-finals, so now we have to prepare for Ireland and our target is to finish top of the group."

The showdown with Ireland takes place at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday, October 11.
