France should have beaten Ireland in the Six Nations, according to their coach Philippe Saint-Andre.

France head coach Philippe Saint-Andre has claimed that his side should not have been beaten by Ireland in the Six Nations today.

Five penalties from Jonny Sexton led Ireland to an 18-11 win, but Saint-Andre believes that his side should have turned their late pressure into more points.

He told reporters: "I'm very disappointed because we felt we should have done better. I think Ireland in the last 20-30 minutes were on the back foot, but our discipline let us down. Ireland were better than us until we kept the ball and scored a great try, but congratulations to Ireland.

"It's a real shame. There's a lot of frustration because we shouldn't have lost today. It came down tot the details, which we weren't able to maser. We had the means to win the game. In the second half the Irish almost break and our bench added a lot. We had the chance to do something special but we weren't able to do it.

"We'll be more prepared in seven months time for the World Cup."

France, who have now won one and lost one of their opening two games, next play Wales in a fortnight's time.
