Azzurri captain Sergio Parisse opened the scoring after six minutes, with Giulio Toniolatti, Tommaso Benvenuti and Edoardo Gori also crossing before the break.
Four conversions from Riccardo Bocchino gave the Italians a 38-7 lead at half-time, five minutes after Alexander Yanyshkin succeeded in giving Russia their first try of the tournament.
The Bears managed to steal a further two tries after the break, courtesy of Vladimir Ostroushko and Alexei Makovetsky, but Italy maintained their dominance and added three more tries.
Italy, previously trailing in their pool, now stand in third place with five points, while Russia slip to the bottom with one.
