Ireland and Leinster's Brian O'Driscoll could face a spell on the sidelines after he was cited for a stamp on Simone Favaro.
The incident, in which the 34-year-old appeared to deliberately aim his boot into Favaro's chest, took place during the first half of Ireland's 22-15 defeat to Italy at the weekend.
Any suspension will limit the number of appearances that O'Driscoll is permitted to make for Leinster during the remainder of the season.
The Irish province are aiming to clinch a top-four place in the Pro12, which would secure a semi-final spot.
