New Zealand complete their unbeaten Pool A run with a 79-15 win over Canada.

The All Blacks cemented their unbeaten Pool A campaign with a 0-0 victory over Canada.

With the announcement earlier in the day that star fly-half Dan Carter would miss the rest of the tournament with a serious groin injury, New Zealand looked to be out to make a statement - but it was Canada that got on the score-sheet first with a penalty from fly-half Monro.

It did not take long for New Zealand to get going, however, as winger Zac Guildford squeezed over the line and defied the video referee to bag the first try of the game, which was converted by Carter's replacement Colin Slade.

Flanker Victor Vito picked up the All Blacks' second, Israel Dagg got his fifth of the tournament, Guildford went over a second time and Mils Muliaina celebrated his 99th Test cap with a try of his own.

Sonny Bill Williams set up Guildford's hat-trick with a well-placed kick from a darting run, before Conor Trainor went over for the Canucks seconds before half-time to make the score 37-8 at the break.

Trainor got his second for Canada in the first minutes of the second half, but the All Blacks responded with tries from scrum-half Jimmy Cowan, Vito and Sonny Bill Williams, while Guildford got his fourth and man of the match Jerome Kaino went over twice to make the final score 79-15.

New Zealand will go on to face Argentina in the quarter finals on Sunday, October 9.
