New Zealand advance to the quarter-finals of the RWC with a 37-17 win over France.

New Zealand staked their claim for World Cup success with a 37-17 victory over France when the two Pool A heavyweights clashed in Auckland today.

Israel Dagg crossed the line either side of the break to add to first-half tries from Adam Thomson and Cory Jane, with Sonny Bill Williams also going over late on.

Fly-half Dan Carter kicked 12 points with the boot, with three conversions, a penalty and a drop goal.

France responded with two tries of their own through Maxime Mermoz and Francois Trinh Duc, but it was not enough to stop the Kiwis claiming victory.

The win, which was captain Richie McCaw's 100th Test cap, guarantees the hosts' progression into the quarter-finals.

New Zealand are likely to face the winner of Scotland vs. Argentina while France's defeat means they face a potential last-eight match against England.
