Georgia and Romania have booked their places at the 2015 Rugby World Cup courtesy of securing the top two spots in the European Nations Cup.
Romania eased past Spain 32-6 in Cluj-Napoca, while Georgia beat Russia 36-10 in Tbilisi to guarantee qualification, and they will now face each other to decide who enters which group for the tournament in England.
The winner of their playoff on March 15 will play alongside New Zealand, Argentina, Tonga and a qualifier from Africa in Pool C, with the loser facing France, Ireland, Italy and Canada in Pool D.
"The European process has been a highlight of the Rugby World Cup qualification process delivering some incredibly competitive and compelling matches," International Rugby Board Chairman Bernard Lapasset told reporters.
"On behalf of the IRB I would like to congratulate both Georgia on Romania for booking their places at England 2015 where they will showcase the best of European international rugby. The scene is now set for a fascinating contest in Tbilisi where the coveted Europe 1 place looks to be decided."
Romania have been eliminated at the group stages in all seven of their World Cup appearances, while Georgia have won two games out of 12 in their three outings on the biggest international stage.
