Former Scotland fly-half Dan Parks has announced his decision to retire from rugby after a career in the sport spanning more than 11 years.

The 36-year-old stepped down from the international game in 2012 after earning 67 caps for Scotland over eight years.

Following spells at Cardiff Blues and Connacht, Parks has opted to walk away from his playing career.

"I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to play a sport which I love for over 11 years as a professional," the Belfast Telegraph quotes Parks as saying.

"My time over here in Scotland, Wales and Ireland has been the best years of my life, and I would like to thank all those who have contributed and helped me along this amazing journey."

Parks has revealed that he will turn his focus to television work, as well as coaching.
