Scotland rugby sevens captain Colin Gregor has admitted that his side made a number of "basic mistakes" during their 35-12 defeat to South Africa today.
The Commonwealth Games hosts found themselves 21 points behind before half time and, despite a mini-fightback, could not overturn the substantial deficit at Ibrox.
Gregor believes that his side made too many mistakes in the early exchanges, allowing South Africa to build an unassailable lead in the medal quarter-final.
"[There were] too many mistakes at the start. We gave them the lead and were always chasing the game from there, so [we're] really disappointed," he told Sports Mole.
"We made a couple of fairly basic mistakes. We gave them a couple of scores and they were clinical. We just couldn't get back into the game."
Scotland will now face bitter rivals England in the plate semi-finals this evening.
