Scotland rugby player Jim Hamilton is pleased with the number of young players in the national team, and believes that it signals a bright future for Scottish rugby.

Scotland rugby player Jim Hamilton believes that the future is bright for the Scotland rugby team.

They face Wales in the Six Nations tomorrow, and the lock believes that the number of young players coming into the team signals an upturn in fortunes for the Scotland team.

"We have a wave of great young players coming through who are playing consistently at a high level for Edinburgh and Glasgow," he told the Daily Record.

"The likes of Jonny Gray, Fraser Brown and Rob Harley, the Glasgow boys in the centre and young Sam Hidalgo-Clyne when he comes on.

"This is a whole new nucleus of players and we have a backlog of players coming through, that's huge for the long-term future of Scottish rugby."

Hamilton believes the team face a tough challenge in tomorrow's match with Wales.

"We've looked at our performance and we need to pick it up a level," he added.

"It's obviously the second game of the tournament and both ourselves and Wales are more accustomed to playing against each other so it's going to be a tough encounter.

Hamilton will win his 59th cap for Scotland tomorrow.
