Scotland record a 48-7 win over Italy in a World Cup warm-up game at Murrayfield this afternoon.

Scotland recorded a 48-7 win over Italy in a World Cup warm-up game at Murrayfield this afternoon.

Greig Laidlaw kicked an early penalty for Scotland before a wonderful Finn Russell chip was met on the full by Sean Lamont who galloped over.

Laidlaw converted as Scotland's backs looked to open up, scything open the Italy defence time and time again, before Laidlaw added another two penalties in quick succession.

Michele Campagnaro went over for the Italian's first points of the game after Scotland failed to deal with a Tommaso Allan, who converted the try.

Francesco Minto was sent to the bin for pulling down a Scottish maul before John Barclay crashed over, with Laidlaw kicking the conversion just before half time.

Tim Visser finished off a nice set-piece move after the break before Lamont intercepted a ball in Italy's 22 to go over for his second.

Laidlaw missed both conversions before Michele Rizzo was awarded a yellow card for lashing out at Gordon Reid with his foot.

Visser then grabbed his second after racing in from 80 yards out after picking up a loose ball. Russell converted before Mark Bennett got in on the action, also racing in unchallenged from past the halfway line.

The 48-7 win is Scotland's largest ever over Italy.
