Stuart Hogg backs Scotland for Six Nations glory

Scotland full-back Stuart Hogg tells Sports Mole that his side can win the Six Nations title next year following their gallant performance at the Rugby World Cup.

Scotland full-back Stuart Hogg has insisted that his side can win the Six Nations next year following their encouraging showing at the Rugby World Cup.

Vern Cotter's side were knocked out at the quarter-final stage of the tournament at the hands of Australia this afternoon, but they forced the Wallabies down to the wire and eventually missed out by just one point.

Australia had previously beaten both England and Wales by bigger margins, while the likes of Ireland and France were both blown away in their respective last-eight matches this weekend.

Scotland have not won the tournament while it has been the Six Nations, last winning the Five Nations championship in 1999, but Hogg believes that ending that duck is possible.

When asked whether challenging for the title is a realistic goal, Hogg told Sports Mole: "Absolutely. I believe in the boys that they're more than capable of winning championships and if we perform like that we can't just stop there.

"We've got to improve and get better and better every time we put on the jersey. We're more than capable of winning championships."

Scotland picked up the wooden spoon at this year's Six Nations having lost all five of their matches.
