Scotland flanker Alasdair Strokosch will see a specialist surgeon to assess the extent of the facial injury that he suffered during his side's defeat to England.
The 29-year-old lasted just 14 minutes for the Scots before being withdrawn on Saturday, with the side going on to lose 38-18 in their Six Nations opener at Twickenham.
Team doctor James Robson says that the USA Perpignan man has a fractured orbit, the area around the eye, and will visit a specialist on Tuesday to find out his condition.
"As ever with such collision-type injuries, they can take time to settle," said Robson.
"He will be examined by Mr Martin Paley, a maxillary facial specialist at Spire Murrayfield Hospital on Tuesday, to determine the extent of the injury and any recovery schedule."
Scotland host Italy in their next match of the competition on Saturday.
