Mike Phillips has admitted that he remains hopeful of a Wales recall after being cut from the team's Rugby World Cup training squad.
The experienced scrum-half was among eight players who were sent back to their clubs by coach Warren Gatland last week.
Phillips, who has won 94 caps for Wales, insists that there is still a chance that he could represent his country again.
"I'll always have that ambition to play rugby for Wales and if they come knocking you're always going to go and represent your country," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "The dream lives on, as they say. Who knows what can happen?
"There's not been much chat really. I just respect the decision. Over the last year maybe I've fallen out of favour anyway.
"Things happen and I respect them all, they're great people. There was frustration and I was annoyed, but you then realise that life goes on and I'd been there for a long time."
Phillips made his Wales debut back in 2003 and has also represented the British and Irish Lions on two separate tours.
