Rio 2016 director of communications Mario Andrada has insisted that the sailing venue for the next Olympic Games will be safe for competition.
It was revealed last month that a target of 80% reduction of pollution in Guanabara Bay wouldn't be met, but despite the setback, Andrada is confident that there will be no issues in 18 months' time.
Andrada told BBC Sport: "There is a huge problem with garbage. It is a concern because the water is not fully clean, but it will be safe for the Olympics."
Last year, complaints were made after debris and dead animals were found during an Olympic test event.
